Railway double dipping ?

G&W double dipping?

Nova Scotia government paying G & W $60,000/month to cover insurance and expenses, yet G & W still sending out bills to land owners with private crossings!  The Railway act states that if land is not being used for a railway, the owner of the land (G&W) is responsible to pay property tax. Why is the CBRM not charging G&W tax? If you don't pay your property tax the CBRM will put the land up for a tax sale. Who are the elected officials representing?

Everyday I will add a link to a project that this minister and the Liberal government were involved to give an idea how your tax dollars are being wasted. He might be a Robin Hood in reverse. Todays link is the Nova Star ( Yarmouth Ferry) http://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fthechronicleherald.ca%2Fbusiness%2F1495169-nova-star-approved-to-sue-province&h=ATMumaXI6HxdQ7HBOpDsq1-108oOBDau87YvNeV3hZOnRl4agKEoq0FgQa4uxoUF7DBUwYCt7qTBSBINIrl-jm2ic6Iv6r__oVxctOh0vgsif2Hg-c7H10MOjYwGGty0osOGRpq6Xas

September 27/2017 link to an embarrassing Track record. A track record that took a man from a majority to a minority win in the last May election. It's an interesting conversation, I never had a conversation because I don't care but if I did care I bet it would be interesting This is a quote from our Minister of Transportation at the time. Copied from the Cape Breton Post June-2014 " Transportation Minister Geoff MacLellan said he hasn’t had any conversations with CN officials about any involvement it may have should the line be abandoned and possibly put up for sale. “The fact that there was an arrangement, or at least a suggestion of an arrangement, that CN would look after the line … I think it’s an interesting conversation,” he said, Friday." " I think it's an interesting conversation" Cannot make this stuff up. Our Minister of Transportation stated that it's an interesting conversation. In a letter to Savage shortly after his party won the May 25, 1993, provincial election, CN Rail chief executive Paul Tellier wrote to the premier confirming the Crown corporation’s pledge to continue operating the rail line. The short, one-paragraph letter, dated June 30, 1993, says, “… should Cape Breton & Central Nova Scotia cease operations, Canadian National Railways agrees to ensure the continuation of rail service on the Truro-Sydney provincial short-line.” In hearings before the National Transportation Agency held a few weeks prior to the issuing of this letter, CN outlined its responsibilities in selling the Cape Breton and Central Nova Scotia Railway Ltd. to RailTex, a U.S. short-line railroad holding company, which merged into RailAmerica in 2000. A decision by the transportation agency released in July of that year, stated CN had the right of first refusal to take over operation of the line, if necessary. RailAmerica sought to abandon th

A quote from the Minister given to Global news when they did the documentary about Chris Cline and safety violations " “I don’t know what his role is whatsoever at Donkin mine at this point” said Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal, Geoff MacLellan, a point man on many issues related to the mine. “I have to trust the system we have in place and the mechanism for ensuring that safety.”

Another quote from the Minister ""It's very safe, very protective, and very mechanical," Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Geoff MacLellan assures a CBC reporter. “I can vouch for that,” MacLellan adds for emphasis, and the CBC reporter leaves the assertion unchallenged. Yet in 2008 current Kameron Collieries executive Ed Griffith was part of the executive team running the West Virginia based Broad Run Mine, another Cline subsidiary. At that time Broad Run Mine was assessed $291,600 in fines. Coal dust accumulations were the issue. Coal dust accumulation, by the way, was also what caused Nova Scotia's Westray mine disaster.
